Introduced in the late 1970s (Ref. 1739). Highly appreciated and is the subject of a rapidly expanding culture. Presently monocultured in Southern Taiwan and exported to Hongkong; not stocked in natural waters (Ref. 1739, 6300). First successful larviculture in Taiwan occurred in 1983 (Ref. 40297).
